Some of those proud trees had to die. Not the lordly ones in the bottom image but some just next to them. Just cut down; as simple as that…

I’m not sure why those “Rhine-Liners” always call my attention. Perhaps because they cross my jogging path; or perhaps because they’ve been in perfect light so often. Each time I see them I’m somehow fascinated. They carry some refined oil from the refinery around the corner. I even don’t know their destinations. I guess after being “fueled” probably somewhere downstream. This photo was taken at morning time; quite cold with a touch of fog in the air. The sun was rising, caressing the scene. A ship (in the background) was just about to enter the port. Perfect moment to push the button :).

Noach was the last one of his kind. He got 950 years old! Isn’t this amazing? And he was the only one with enough piety to be chosen for a new mankind (along with his family of course).  Since then, we are in charge now. In charge of the world, which means we won’t be destroyed again, at least not by our creator – but perhaps by ourselves? Who would care? …some stupid thoughts while taking the picture and testing a new film. This barge probably won’t reach Noach’s age but imagine you would…

Southwest Germany - October 2011.

…wanted the King of Prussia his little cottage to be. I think he wasn’t disappointed by the result. If one may afford such a garden, and this tiny little castle is only a part of it, one probably has no worries at all. Or perhaps still? …everything is relative. However, a garden that makes you lose your worries requires a proper name. Ordinary German (or even English) can’t express “balsam for the soul” and certainly prussian German won’t do either. So what would sound better than SANS, SOUCI?

Back in 1832, Germany still was in particularism, people had a vision of national unity. They hosted a festival at Hambach Castle. Around 20 till 30 thousand people demanded unity, freedom and democracy. At this festival the combination of black, red and gold appeared on lots of flags. It was a symbol of a democratic movement for a united Germany. And so it got the foundation for the national colors of Germany and finally the foundation for Germany’s the modern flag.

However, apart from the festival’s progressive spirit, members probably also just got excited by the tremendous view. It must have been similar to the one you see on the picture
